Antipodes
The antipodes, grecian »anti-opposed foot«, is the term for people living on the other side of the Earth's surface (the point on the Earth's surface which is diametrically opposite to it).
Antipodes-chair
Inspired by the ancient assumption, that it could rain upside down on the other side of the globe, I developed furniture in collaboration with Jonathan Logan, Guy and Ruben in Katrin Sonnleitner's workshop, corresponding to our imagination of the antipodes: People who are sitting on their heads. The piece deals with the paradoxes of an antipode part of the world. Afterwards, our antipodes-chair was exhibited at Unitec Auckland – New Zealand – as a part of the workshop.
